Launch of the National Report on Corruption Risk Assessment in the Issuance of Licenses, Permits and Contracts in the Mining Sector – Kenya, Thursday, 28th September 2017

TI-Kenya is implementing a project named ‘‘Mining for Sustainable Development’’ which aims to enhance transparency and accountability in the award of mining sector permits, licenses and contracts. TI-Kenya has concluded the 1st phase which involved conducting a corruption risk assessment in the award of contracts, licenses and permits in the mining sector. The assessment focused on three counties (Kitui, Kwale and Taita Taveta) identifying various risks and vulnerabilities that are likely to occur at different stages of the award process. The findings of the assessment were subjected to a validation process by relevant stakeholders both at the national and at the county levels. TI-Kenya has therefore finalised on producing the final National Report on the Corruption Risk Assessment.

The launch of the report is scheduled for Thursday, 28th September 2017 from 7.00a.m. to 10.00a.m. at the Hilton Hotel
