TI-Kenya Calls for Active Participation in Governance Processes

TI-Kenya, through the Action for Transparency (A4T) Project, successfully organised a roadshow and public forum on 14th July 2018 around Embakasi area.

The roadshow aimed to inform and empower citizens in Embakasi to participate in governance processes of public funds in health and education. Also, it aimed to encourage citizens report suspected corruption cases through the Action for Transparency Mobile App.

The caravan started at Kangundo Road to Umoja estate where a first stop was made. Others stops were at Tena Estate, Donholm, Mama Lucy Hospital, Komarock estate and Kayole.

During the stops, citizens were sensitised on the importance of participating in budgetary processes and reporting corruption. Materials with information about the project were shared with the public and instructions on how to download the A4T App given.

At Kayole II Community Hall, the team conducted a public forum where residents were enlightened about the A4T APP. Wasanii Sanaa Youth Group presented a captivating play about the effects of corruption and advocated for active participation of citizens to report corruption. Citizens were also given chance to share their feedback about the application.
